A Roller Coaster Day

Today was a roller coaster. There is no other way to explain it. One minute we felt like a germlin looking to kill a Mogwai and the next we felt like sunshine and lollipops.
It all started this morning when we heard our annoying radio DJ announce that it was going to be -15 outside. Do wha? Crap, we thought to myself. We are going to freeze our tookus off waiting for the bus. Mr. B reminded us to pull out our parka from the closet that we used to wear in Chicago. Fine, we said with irritation.
In the three years that we have lived in Denver we have only used this parka twice. It doesn’t get that cold in Denver for long periods of time during the winter so wearing this big of a coat is more social suicide then considered useful. Now when we lived and worked in Chicago it was appropriate. Hello, -40 wind chill. If you didn’t have this big of coat you would have died of hypothermia. Seriously.
Anyways, we pouted as we put each arm through a sleeve and zipped up. We would have rather eaten dirt then put this parka on. Don’t you think we look like Ralphie’s little brother from The Christmas Story?
We made it to work. Not going to lie we were grumpy. It was colder then a witches hooha outside, and waiting for the bus just put us in a not so happy place. But our spirits were quickly lifted when our co-worker Brian brought in kitchen-made chocolate chip pumpkin bread that his wife Mary made. Mmmm. We were starting to feel better. Well, almost. As we were nibbling on a piece of the corner, our boss Mark, came up to our desk and informed us that our buildings water line had just broke. What? He said he didn’t know when the water would be turned back on and unfortunately we can’t use the bathrooms until they do. WHAT?!!! You’ve got to be kidding us. So, today we made four trips across the street in sub-zero temperatures to pee at Macy’s. WTF, we kept saying to myself. Did we piss the universe off? Is our karma running low? What gives? As we left work we seriously wanted to give up. Today was not our day. When we arrived home we were defeated. No more we told the universe. No more. But we then we noticed a package in front of our door. Hmmm…what could this be? We flew open the door and immediately went for the scissors in our junk draw. Our hands could not cut fast enough. We finally got the darn thing open and pulled out…… A new addition to our home office!! We about died from excitement! We felt like a little kid at Christmas. We thought to myself, maybe everything was leading up to this moment? Maybe we were just being drama queen today? All we know is that this poster rocks and the rest of the day we are leaving at the amusement park because this ride is over.
