Winter Groove

Winter Groove

Mr. B and we decided to hit the slopes at Beaver Creek on Saturday. It was our first real ski day, and to tell you the truth, we felt like a little kid waiting to open presents on Christmas Eve. We were full of anticipation because the mountains have been getting crazy amounts of snow for this early in the season.

Powdery Snow = Happy Face.

We have to tell you that Beaver Creek holds a special place in our heart. We took many, many lessons on this mountain. Once we had a Japanese instructor tell us to be “one with the mountain.” Yeah, we are still working on that one.

Little did we know that the Birds of Prey World Cupwas at BC this weekend. You know, the downhill, super-G and the combined. We were fortunate enough to find the on course viewing area, right next to the camera. It was cool for about five minutes, and then your attention span goes out the window.

We did see Bode Miller breeze by but then he missed a gate and received an DNF (Did Not Finish). Lame! Ted Ligety – same. And so went the day for the good old USofA. We did see Aksel Lund Svindal (he is massive!) and a few other familiar names blur by, but Lindsey Vonn and the rest of the girls were in Canada for the Women’s World Cup. Sorry, no paparazzi shots, so sad:(

After about five hours of skiing Mr. B and we called it quits. We were exhausted. We forget it takes a couple of weekends to get those legs back to epic status:)

Today we headed to Keystone and met up with the York’s to ski.

We are not the biggest fan of Keystone. It’s generally full of pot head snowboarders and angry little girls, but today was manageable.

It wasn’t crowded, we got a close parking spot to the Village, and the weather wasn’t frigged.

Katie and we skied mostly with each other while the men folk took on steeper adventures. We definitely got our mogul groove on , and our legs are in some serious pain. Need a foam rollerstat!

We all had a ton of fun and we can’t wait for more snow and weekends to come!
