Running around

We hardly slept a wink last night.

Mr. B left for Houston yesterday and won’t be returning until Thursday evening. We never sleep well the first night he’s away because we're afraid the boogie man will appear. Hey, don’t give us that look! We do realize we are t-minus nine months away from turning the big 3-0 and should have put this silly fear to rest years ago, but we can’t help it. This world is full of crazies!

Clearly we should have been cop. Doesn’t paranoia = good detective skills? Maybe that’s just wishful thinking?

Even though we are keeping our eyelids open with scotch tape at this moment, we did manage to tackle quite a bit of our to-do list today. With June quickly approaching, which means our training for the Chicago Marathon will officially begin, we needed to get our running calendar in order.

We decided to stick with the same training plan that we used when we ran The Big D last year, Mr. Hal Higdon’s Novice we program. His 18 week training program fully prepared us to run 26.2 miles. What it didn’t prepare us for was running in 90 degree heat! Still bitter about that one. If the heat wasn’t an issue, we think we would have finished with a better time. Hopefully the weather in Chicago will be cool on race day. Keep your fingers crossed!

Our sexy Chi-Town Marathon Training Program:

Other than having to run 18 miles over Labor Day Weekend (balls!), the schedule doesn’t look too bad. Plus, this time around we have a running partner, Listy, to keep us entertained and from slacking off! Lookout Chicago! And speaking of running, we stopped by the park to do a little after work today. The sun was shining. The flowers were perky. The lake was placid. We were a happy runner. On the way home from the park, we stopped by Whole Foods to pick up a couple of ingredients for dinner tonight. We have been craving this Indian Lentil dish for about two weeks and finally decided to make it…. with a few twists. For starters, we added chicken sausage because we wanted some protein. We also added some grape tomatoes for a splash of color. We kept all the rest of the ingredients the same, including the curry powder. We haven’t used this guy in quite sometime. In fact, we forgot he was in spice cupboard. Good thing he was in there because he made the dish sing! The whole dinner took less than 30 minutes to make and was filling. We can’t wait for leftovers! (Totally high-fiving myself right now for adding those tomatoes. So pretty.)

Anyone want to come over and help with dishes? {crickkkkkkets.} We don’t blame you.

See you later!
