Hallow-Rita: Halloween Margarita

Hallow-Rita: Halloween Margarita

Make Halloween festive and fun by serving a Hallow-Rita: Halloween Margarita!

Happy Halloween!!

Who’s ready to trick-or-treat?

We have big bowl of candy ready to go for all the kiddos. Personal favorites: Twix, Snickers and Peanut Butter Cups. OH, and our go-to non-chocolate treat definitely are DOTS. You?

Since it’s Halloween we thought we would take a second to show you a throwback photo of yours truly. What do you think? We rocked that our Little Pony outfit. Also, our brother John is crushing the Transformer look. GAH. The 80’s were a favorite!

Anyway, we can’t wait to show you our family photo later this evening. Y’all are going to flip. We are having our friend Katie come over early to snap a photo so fingers crossed Juniper will be a willing participant.

Besides dressing up we are having friends over too! Our plan is serve this Deathly Hallow Charcuterie, our Ultimate Lamb Chili and these Hallow-Ritas: Halloween Margarita. Take your basic margarita and simply add food coloring. A mixture of red, blue and green will turn your clear margarita into a ghoulish surprise!

We hope y’all have a wonderful and safe Halloween!

Now, say it with: “Trick-or-Treat, smell our feet, give us something good to eat!”

Hallow-Rita: Halloween Margarita

Yield: Serves 2

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz tequila
  • 2 oz triple sec
  • 1/2 cup fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 2 cups crushed ice
  • lime wedge
  • lime slices, for garnish
  • 1/2 cup black salt
  • blue food coloring
  • red food coloring
  • green food coloring

Directions:

  1. In a tumbler combine tequila, triple sec and lime juice. Pour the mixture into a large measuring cup or a bowl that you can easily pour from. Next, add the food coloring (about a drop of each at first). Continue to stir and add colorings until desired mixture is achieved. It took us about three rounds.
  2. Pour the black salt onto a plate. Take the lime wedge and rub it around each glass. Dip the glass into the black salt.
  3. Fill each glass with ice. Pour the margarita mixture into the glass and garnish with fresh lime slices!
