Fork and knife burger

We were tired all day today.
We swear it’s the weather. Partly cloudy skies mixed with rain showers are just brutal. Our venti coffee from Starbucks couldn’t even give us a boost this morning. Hello May, did you miss the memo that you’re supposed to be pretty and sunny? Err.
Whatevs.
To be honest, the only thing that got us through today was the thought of dinner. Oh yeah, we can think about for that long. This will come as no surprise if your read this blog regularly.
Tonight’s dinner was something we conjured up a couple of month’s ago. We were grilling hamburgers when we suddenly realized that we didn’t have any buns! Doh. All we had on hand was half of a baguette. We thought to myself, what could we do with half a baguette and a hamburger patty?
(Cue light bulb)
“we know”, said enthusiastically. We will slice the baguette and place the hamburger patty on top. Brilliant! And that’s the story of how the fork and knife burger was born.
Okay, we know that this method has probably been around forever but we felt pretty darn cool just thinking about it on the spot. Can we have just a little pat on the back? OH, thank you. We think a favorite part about this recipe is the fact that you can add whatever ingredients your heart desires. The choices are endless. It’s like going on a shopping spree people! Here’s how we make them: – Grill a hamburger patty – Top the hamburger patty with pepper jack cheese – Slice the baguette, two slices per patty – Assembly your toppings Our favorite toppings: mayo, arugula, shallots, avocados, and jalapenos. Mmmm…get in our belly! Fork and Knife Burgers Serves 2 Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 10 minutes Ingredients: 2 85% lean hamburger patties Salt an pepper Olive oil 2 slices pepper jack cheese 1 cup arugula 1 shallot, sliced 1 tablespoon mayonnaise 1 tablespoon avocado 1 teaspoon jalapenos 2 slices of a baguette per burger Directions: Let hamburger patties come to room temperature, about 15 minutes.
