The allure of New York City, with its bustling streets, iconic skyline, and endless possibilities, has long captivated imaginations worldwide. For many, it’s the epitome of urban sophistication, a place where dreams are chased and grand adventures unfold. Complementing this vibrant metropolis is the tranquil charm of the Hamptons, an exclusive cluster of seaside communities on Long Island known for its pristine beaches, upscale living, and a relaxed, yet refined, atmosphere. The idea of seamlessly transitioning from a fast-paced Manhattan day to a serene Hamptons evening is a fantasy for many, epitomizing the quintessential East Coast lifestyle.
During my college years, two television shows dominated our Monday night viewing parties: “The Bachelor” for its dramatic rose ceremonies, and “Sex and the City” for its portrayal of friendship, fashion, and life in the Big Apple. Each of my friends identified with a specific character – be it Samantha’s boldness, Charlotte’s romanticism, Miranda’s pragmatism, or Carrie’s unique blend of all three. I always resonated with Carrie, finding her to be the most balanced of the group, and her impeccable fashion sense was undeniably inspiring. Part of me always yearned for that “Carrie Bradshaw” existence: navigating the 9-to-5 grind in New York City, then whisking away to the Hamptons for an idyllic long weekend.
Just recently, that dream became a reality. A wonderful group of fellow bloggers, including Gina, Lexi, Liz, Heather, Andie, Heidi, Jennifer & Trevor, Kristin, Beth, Gerry, Maria, Julie, and myself, had the incredible opportunity to experience 24 hours of vibrant “work” in New York City, followed by a true New Yorker’s escape to the Hamptons. It was an experience that confirmed one thing: this is a lifestyle one could easily get accustomed to.

Join me on this journey as I reveal the ultimate travel guide for an unforgettable New York City and Hamptons adventure, covering everything from the most luxurious stays to the most delectable dining and essential attractions. Get ready to discover your perfect East Coast getaway!
New York City: The Urban Adventure Begins
Our journey began in the heart of the Big Apple, a city that pulsates with an energy unlike any other. New York City offers an unparalleled blend of culture, history, and modernity, making it a must-visit destination. Here’s how to make the most of your time in Manhattan.
Where to Stay: New York City’s Premier Luxury
For our stay in New York City, finding an accommodation that combined luxury, convenience, and impeccable service was paramount. The Lotte New York Palace emerged as the perfect choice, ideally situated in Midtown Manhattan. This grand hotel places guests within easy reach of some of the city’s most beloved landmarks, including the sprawling green expanse of Central Park, the majestic St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and the iconic Rockefeller Center. Its prime location makes it an exceptional base for exploring the city’s renowned attractions.

The Lotte New York Palace is more than just a hotel; it’s an experience. Each room is thoughtfully designed, offering spacious layouts and an array of luxurious amenities. Imagine unwinding in a lavish marble bathroom after a day of sightseeing, or returning to a room meticulously prepared with turndown service. The views from the hotel are simply breathtaking, providing a spectacular panorama of the cityscape. What truly sets the Lotte apart is its unwavering commitment to service and attention to detail, ensuring every guest feels pampered and eager to return. This level of hospitality transforms a stay into a memorable part of the New York City experience, solidifying its reputation as one of the best luxury hotels in NYC.

What to Visit: Exploring New York City’s Iconic Landmarks
New York City boasts an endless list of attractions, but some stand out as absolute must-sees. From tranquil urban oases to architectural marvels, here’s where to immerse yourself in the city’s vibrant culture.
Central Park
An urban sanctuary like no other, Central Park offers a refreshing escape from the city’s concrete jungle. Whether you’re enjoying a leisurely stroll with friends, like Gerry and Liz, or pausing to capture a timeless keepsake photo, this vast park promises countless hours of exploration. You can rent a rowboat on The Lake, visit Strawberry Fields in honor of John Lennon, admire the intricate details of Bethesda Terrace, or simply relax on a bench and people-watch. Central Park is a living, breathing part of New York City, constantly evolving with the seasons and offering something new with every visit. It’s an ideal spot for a picnic, a romantic walk, or simply soaking in the beauty of nature amidst skyscrapers.

Rockefeller Center
Just a short walk from the Lotte New York Palace, Rockefeller Center is a complex of commercial buildings that serves as a hub of activity and an architectural marvel. While it’s famous for its seasonal attractions like the ice-skating rink and the magnificent Christmas tree, the highlight for any visitor is undoubtedly the Top of the Rock Observation Deck. If you have a moment, ascending to the observation floor offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city, including an iconic perspective of the Empire State Building and Central Park. It’s an essential experience for capturing the true scale and beauty of Manhattan.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral
Step into a realm of serene grandeur at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, a masterpiece of Neo-Gothic architecture. Completed in 1878, this Roman Catholic cathedral church is one of the oldest and most significant religious sites in America. Its towering spires, intricate stained-glass windows, and peaceful interior offer a striking contrast to the bustling Fifth Avenue outside. Visiting this historic landmark provides a moment of reflection and an appreciation for the city’s rich history and architectural heritage.

Other Must-Visit Places:
Beyond these major landmarks, New York City offers a treasure trove of other experiences. Walk the High Line, an elevated park built on a historic freight rail line, offering unique city views and art installations. Indulge in some luxury retail therapy with a stroll down Madison Avenue. Immerse yourself in art and culture at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met), one of the world’s largest and finest art museums. Explore the vibrant Chelsea Market, a food hall and shopping center with an incredible array of culinary delights. And, of course, no trip to NYC is complete without seeing the iconic Statue of Liberty, a symbol of freedom and democracy. For even more ideas and hidden gems, check out my previous NYC trip recap.
What to Eat: A Culinary Journey Through New York City
New York City’s dining scene is legendary, offering an overwhelming array of choices from casual eateries to Michelin-starred restaurants. To simplify your culinary adventure, here are a few exceptional gems that promise to delight your palate and leave a lasting impression.
Villard @ Lotte New York Palace
Conveniently located on the lobby level of the Lotte New York Palace, Villard made starting our mornings effortless and luxurious. This upscale bistro presents an innovative breakfast menu in a beautifully boutique setting, making it the perfect spot to fuel up for a day of city exploration. Be sure to sample their exquisite fresh-pressed juice flights, the indulgent breakfast pizza, delightful bacon beignets, fluffy pancakes, classic avocado toast, or the surprisingly elegant farro porridge. Every dish is crafted with care, offering a sophisticated start to your day in Midtown Manhattan.

Mamo NYC
After a morning filled with walking and sightseeing, we ventured to the trendy SoHo neighborhood for lunch at Mamo NYC. This restaurant is a true culinary haven, serving up delicious and authentic Italian cuisine that transports you straight to the heart of Italy. From freshly made pastas bursting with flavor to crisp, vibrant salads and the most decadent truffle pizza, every dish we tried was absolutely spot on. The rich flavors and quality ingredients make Mamo NYC a standout for lunch in SoHo. And of course, no Italian meal is complete without the perfect pairing; don’t forget to complement your meal with a selection from their extensive wine menu for a truly satisfying experience.

FIG & OLIVE
With only one evening in New York City, our dinner choice had to be exceptional, an “11/10 situation” as one might say. Fig & Olive, nestled in the chic Meatpacking District, delivered far beyond expectations. The ambiance alone, with its elegant Mediterranean-inspired decor, invites you to linger for hours. Sip on fine wine, engage in lively conversation with friends, and savor some of the most thoughtfully prepared dishes. Highlights included the delicate pea crostini, a refreshing burrata and heirloom tomato salad, and perfectly seared sea scallops. Fig & Olive provides not just a meal, but an immersive dining experience, making it a top choice for Mediterranean dining in NYC.

The Hamptons: Embracing East Coast Luxury and Relaxation
After our exhilarating 24 hours in New York City, it was time to punch the card and head east towards the Hamptons. This exclusive stretch of Long Island coastline is renowned for its sophisticated charm, pristine beaches, and vibrant social scene. Grab your seersucker dress, flip-flops, and a stylish fedora, because the Hamptons is truly the place to see and be seen, offering a perfect blend of relaxation and upscale leisure.
Where to Stay: Hamptons Luxury Home Rentals
The Hamptons is a highly sought-after destination for East Coasters and visitors alike, offering a diverse range of accommodation options. For groups, or those seeking an authentic Hamptons experience with ample space and amenities, renting a large house is an exceptional choice. Given our group of 14, we opted for this route, securing a magnificent cedar-sided house for the weekend. This expansive property featured distinct east and west wings, ensuring privacy and comfort for everyone. It also boasted a large gourmet kitchen, perfect for communal cooking, a sparkling private pool for leisurely swims, well-maintained tennis courts for active recreation, a fully equipped gym, and an entertaining game room. Such a rental provides not just a place to stay, but a luxurious and private retreat, embodying the essence of a Hamptons luxury getaway.

What to Visit/Do: Hamptons Experiences Beyond the Beach
While the pristine beaches are undeniably a major draw of the Hamptons, there’s a wealth of other activities and sights to explore that offer unique insights into this charming region.
Bedell Cellars: A Taste of Hamptons Wine Country
When you’re not soaking up the sun on the beach, consider a delightful detour to the Hamptons’ burgeoning wine country. I highly recommend a visit to Bedell Cellars, a renowned winery dedicated to crafting sustainable, handcrafted wines. Their refreshing varietals are particularly enjoyable on a warm summer day, offering a perfect respite. Don’t miss the opportunity to sit outside on their stunning patio, where you can savor your wine amidst the picturesque vineyard views. It’s a serene and sophisticated experience that highlights a different facet of the Hamptons’ appeal, making it a perfect spot for Hamptons wine tasting.

Yoga by the Pool: Wellness in Paradise
There’s no better way to begin any morning than with a gentle stretch and a mindful heart. Whether you’re following a guided 30-minute yoga session on your smartphone or, like us, lucky enough to have Beth lead you through a session, practicing yoga by the pool is an incredible way to set positive intentions for the day. The tranquil Hamptons setting, combined with the invigorating movements of yoga, provides a truly refreshing and calming start, perfectly aligning with the wellness activities the Hamptons are known for.

Host an Ice Cream Social: A Sweet Summer Tradition
Summer simply screams ice cream! One of the most delightful ways to combat the heat and foster camaraderie is by hosting an ice cream social with friends. Halo Top generously provided us with a magnificent smorgasbord of different flavors, making the decision of which one to sample the hardest part of the day. For those who must know, the birthday cake flavor remains my personal favorite! This fun and simple activity is a fantastic way to create lasting memories and enjoy the sweet side of summer in the Hamptons.

What to Eat: Gourmet Delights in the Hamptons
While the Hamptons offers fantastic dining establishments, a significant part of the experience often involves enjoying meals at your private rental. Here’s a taste of the culinary journey we embarked on.
Ultimate Charcuterie Board by DeLallo: The Perfect Welcome
Upon our arrival in the Hamptons, weary from the infamous Long Island traffic, we craved something immediately satisfying. The ultimate remedy for traffic fatigue and the perfect way to uplift spirits (after all, we were in the Hamptons!) was a beautifully arranged charcuterie board, generously provided by DeLallo. If you haven’t yet discovered DeLallo products, allow me to enthusiastically urge you to run to your local grocery store and fill your cart! Some of my personal favorites include their exquisite assortment of olives, crispy crostini, flavorful peppers, savory pepperoni, an endless variety of cheeses, and delicious glazes. All you need to do is artfully arrange these gourmet ingredients on a cutting board, pour a glass of crisp rosé, and you’ll instantly slide into that coveted Hamptons vibe. It’s the ideal Hamptons appetizer spread.

Union Cantina: Modern Mexican in Sag Harbor
Although we embraced cooking many of our meals at our rental house, venturing into town for lunch offered a delightful change of scenery. I highly recommend a visit to Union Cantina in Sag Harbor. This establishment serves updated Mexican dishes in a space that perfectly blends rustic charm with chic design, complete with a lovely patio and a vibrant tequila bar. We sampled one of their jalapeño margaritas, and it was absolutely perfect – a harmonious blend of spice and refreshment. The menu features creative dishes such as a refreshing watermelon salad, an endless array of tacos (you absolutely must try the lobster!), deconstructed enchiladas, and a delectable whole pan-fried snapper. It’s a fantastic spot for Sag Harbor dining and a taste of modern Mexican cuisine.

Poolside Hummus by Sabra: Casual Refreshment
After an afternoon spent exploring the charming towns, we returned to our Hamptons oasis for another round of poolside snacks before dinner. You know my deep affection for Sabra hummus, and what better way to connect and lounge than with this “official meal” of choice? Sabra offers such an incredible variety of wonderful flavors – from supremely spicy to pine roasted nut, olive tapenade, and jalapeño, among many others. Simply arrange a couple of those signature red-rimmed containers on a table alongside your favorite crackers, and let the dipping begin. It’s the ultimate easy, healthy, and satisfying snack for a relaxing Hamptons afternoon.

Private Chef Dinner with Green Giant: The Ultimate Indulgence
For our final night in the Hamptons, we opted for the ultimate indulgence: hiring a private chef to prepare dinner. This allowed everyone to fully relax, free from the worries of meal planning, cooking, or doing dishes. Chef Renee Blackman was more than up for the challenge, crafting an exquisite meal. Green Giant provided a fantastic array of vegetables, such as delicious broccoli tater tots and versatile cauliflower rice, which were seamlessly incorporated into our amazing dinner. One of my absolute favorite dishes was the tender beef short-ribs, perfectly paired with a velvety Green Giant pureed cauliflower. This private chef experience in the Hamptons elevated our last evening to a truly luxurious culinary event.

But the true pièce de résistance was undoubtedly the dessert table! My inner five-year-old was absolutely giddy at the fact that we could scoop ice cream directly off the beautifully arranged table, eschewing bowls entirely! It was a playful, decadent, and incredibly fun way to cap off an entire weekend of luxury and relaxation. This unforgettable dessert experience perfectly summed up the joyous spirit of our Hamptons getaway.

And that truly was a wrap on an incredible journey! A huge thank you goes out to Gina, Lexi, and Liz for their exceptional organization of what was truly a smashing weekend. Another round of applause is due to all the generous sponsors who made our Hamptons dream a reality: DeLallo, Sabra, and Green Giant. We also extend our sincere gratitude to Vital Farms, Lorissa’s Kitchen, Nespresso, and Halo Top for their wonderful contributions. Finally, a special shout-out to Alejandro Photography for capturing all the gorgeous photos featured throughout this blog post. Until our next adventure!
