Embark on a Culinary Journey: Easy Noodle Bowls & Our Epic Japan Adventure
Get ready for an incredible journey, both in the kitchen and across the globe! This Sunday marks the beginning of an extraordinary adventure as Mr. B and I jet off to the vibrant, captivating land of Tokyo, Japan. The excitement is palpable, a feeling that still seems almost surreal.
For over a year, this dream trip to Japan has been a constant topic of conversation. The idea of starring in a car commercial (a nod to a classic film!) sparked our imaginations, but practicalities like time and budget always seemed to create obstacles. We’d talk about it, get excited, and then a wave of excuses would inevitably surface, pushing the dream further away.
However, after returning from our holiday travels during Christmas, a new resolve settled upon us. We looked at each other and declared, “No more excuses!” This year, 2015, has officially been dubbed the “Year of No Excuses.” It’s a philosophy beautifully encapsulated by Warren Miller, who famously said, “If you don’t do it this year, you will be one year older when you do.” That resonated deeply. So, with newfound determination, we took the plunge, booked our tickets, and now, the adventure truly begins!
Exploring Japan: Mountains, Culture, and Unforgettable Cuisine
Our Japanese escapade kicks off with four exhilarating nights up north at Niseko Mountain. For ski enthusiasts, Niseko is a legendary destination, known for its incredible powder snow and breathtaking mountain scenery. The fact that our Colorado Epic Pass covers this resort makes the experience even sweeter! We’re looking forward to immersing ourselves in intense snow skiing and experiencing unique mountain life quite literally on the other side of the world, a stark contrast to our usual winter escapes.
Following our snowy adventure, we’ll make our way to the bustling metropolis of Tokyo for another four nights. Here, our focus shifts to diving deep into Japanese culture, history, and of course, its world-renowned culinary scene. Tokyo promises an immersive experience, from ancient traditions to futuristic innovations.
A Foodie’s Paradise: Tokyo’s Culinary Delights
My itinerary is packed with culinary explorations designed to ignite every taste bud. I’ve meticulously booked a hands-on sushi-making class, eager to learn the artistry and precision behind this iconic Japanese dish. A tour of their famous fish market is also on the agenda, an absolute must for any food lover, where we’ll witness the incredible freshness and sheer variety of seafood that defines Japanese gastronomy.
For a taste of authentic local life, we’ve also signed up for a dive bar tour. This unique experience will take us off the beaten path, guiding us through various local pubs where we can savor genuine Japanese “street food.” Imagine sampling yakitori, takoyaki, and other local delicacies while soaking in the lively atmosphere of Tokyo’s hidden culinary gems. Furthermore, I’ve compiled a comprehensive list of must-eat ramen places – a pilgrimage for any ramen aficionado. The anticipation for these culinary adventures is almost overwhelming; I fully expect a “foodie explosion” of epic proportions!
